After both having extra time off, the Battle Mountain Longhorns and the Coral Academy of Science - Reno Falcons will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Academy of Science - Reno took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Battle Mountain, who comes in off a win.

Battle Mountain won the last time they faced Sierra Lutheran and Jazmin Johnson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Longhorns skirted past the Falcons 3-2 for which the team can thank Johnson, who had 15 digs and two aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.
Battle Mountain had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 14-25, 16-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-12.
Battle Mountain relied on the efforts of Alexis Rangel, who had 14 digs and two aces, and Addison Matheus, who had nine kills, five digs, and two blocks. That's the most blocks Matheus has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Moore, who had 16 digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Battle Mountain was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in 11 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Coral Academy of Science - Reno lost 3-0 to Yerington on Friday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-13, 25-11.
Battle Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Coral Academy of Science - Reno, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

However, it's not like Coral Academy of Science - Reno struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
