The Lee Generals will venture away from home to challenge the Appomattox County Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lee 3.8, Appomattox County 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lee heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richlands. The Generals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Lee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Weston, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Appomattox County waltzed into their game on Thursday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Everything went their way against the Minuteman as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Raiders have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Paisley Mann, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Liberty off the board. Mann has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Karly Jenkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Madelyn Hancock was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Lee's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Appomattox County, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Appomattox County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lee couldn't quite get it done against Appomattox County when the teams last played back in June of 2025 as they fell 7-3. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
