The Boquet Valley Griffins entered their tilt with the Bolton Central Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Boquet Valley took down Bolton Central 66-48 on Thursday. Given Boquet Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Bolton Central is ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jackson Hooper, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Bode Buehler was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists.
Despite the defeat, Bolton Central saw an underclassman step up: Jaxon Egloff scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Hubert, who scored 14 points.
Boquet Valley pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Bolton Central, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boquet Valley will take on Seton Catholic Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Seton Catholic Central is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Bolton Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Loudonville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Loudonville Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
