ALA - West Foothills proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 26) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Chino Valley 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Guardians have posted since April 12, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Ave Risati, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Caines, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, River Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Winslow on Wednesday and fell 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Dust Devils have lost by just one run.
Cherity Gonzalez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan MacDonald, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
ALA - West Foothills pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-6-1.
Both ALA - West Foothills and River Valley just can't seem to miss. The Guardians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
