On Saturday, the Scammon Bay Eagles faced the Hooper Bay Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Scammon Bay walked away with a 67-59 win over Hooper Bay. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scammon Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stewie Sundown, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Dallas Kaganak, who scored 17 points.
Scammon Bay is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Hooper Bay, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Scammon Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hooper Bay will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Unalakleet at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
