The Orestimba Warriors put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Livingston with points to spare, taking the game 53-37. Given Orestimba's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Livingston is ranked 1155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orestimba's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Marin dominguez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Marin dominguez has scored at least 25% of Orestimba's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Melo, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Livingston still got an impressive performance from Imanol Gutierrez, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Gutierrez scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Aguilar-briones, who scored six points.
Orestimba's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Livingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Orestimba won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Davis at 4:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Livingston won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Modesto. Modesto is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.4 points per game.
