Watonga extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oklahoma Bible Trojans. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Karsten Allen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That one earned run gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Wade Manke was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Cy Lake was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Oklahoma Bible, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.
Like Watonga, Oklahoma Bible also got a great game from a two-way player: Liam Berry. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Berry also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oklahoma Bible is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise. Berry was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Reid, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Watonga will face off against Carnegie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oklahoma Bible, they will challenge Pond Creek-Hunter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
