In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Warren Central got a 49 - 28 win over Ben Davis last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Romeir Elliott. Elliott rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns. That performance landed Elliott among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Center Grove (6th in the power rankings) and Columbus North (15th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Center Grove picked up a decisive 'W' against Columbus North, finishing up at 42 - 0. Center Grove found its leader in an underclassman: Carson Steele ran for 183 yards and also punched in three touchdowns, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players.
Movin on Up
Marion managed to bank 243 more yards than its opponent Delta last week, and going the extra distance paid off. The final score between Marion and Delta was a 35 - 0 blowout in Marion's favor. The win took its toll on the QB, however, as he was sacked five times. The success catapulted Marion five spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Avon (8th in the power rankings) and Brownsburg (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Brownsburg and Avon both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Brownsburg with three and Avon with five), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
