MADISON, Miss. - A 44-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Germantown (Madison, Miss.) as it put 14 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Richland (Miss.) 65-7.
After taking the lead on a
Jaylen Smith touchdown run in the first quarter, the Mavericks led 45-0 at the half.
With the win Germantown extended its winning streak to seven games. GHS defeated the Trojans 27-14 last week.
The Madison school's standout player in the win was
Travis Singleton. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
The Rangers' lone touchdown came on a run in the third quarter.
The Mavericks came in allowing an average of 23.0 points per game this season. Germantown held firm on the defensive front, and kept Richland above the 2.7 points it had been averaging per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 56-15 win for GHS.
