Eli Nix produced another solid effort rushing for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 217 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Christian's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 5-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The Eagles also got help from Aidan Lyon, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monrovia). They strolled past Indianapolis Scecina Memorial with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 47-29. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.
Monrovia's win came from a few key players Heritage Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Coewen Stinson, who rushed for 125 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Those 125 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Bain, who rushed for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monrovia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 353 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests.
Monrovia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jack Taylor and Payton Hall.
Heritage Christian's record now sits at 6-4. As for Monrovia, their record is now 4-6.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Heritage Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Monrovia struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 231 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
