Welcome
Rolling Meadows has been an offensive powerhouse for six straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Prospect, finishing up at 62 - 0. The Prospect defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 29 points per game), and Rolling Meadows took advantage of that. The win also thrust Rolling Meadows into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 16th spot.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Lincoln-Way East (1st in the power rankings) and Homewood-Flossmoor (5th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. The final score between Lincoln-Way East and Homewood-Flossmoor was a 48 - 6 blowout in Lincoln-Way East's favor. Lincoln-Way East made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite.
Game of Inches
It doesn't get any closer than a one-point game, and that was the margin of last week's closest contest, which featured thrill-seekers Montini Catholic and Loyola Academy. Montini Catholic won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Loyola Academy 28 - 27. The win boosted Montini Catholic a satisfying 26 spots in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Marist (7th in the power rankings) and Nazareth Academy (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Nazareth Academy and Marist both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Nazareth Academy with five and Marist with three), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
