The Commerce Tigers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Rabun County Wildcats at 8:30 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Commerce was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-56 to Athens Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Commerce in their matchups with Athens Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Commerce's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tyler Sorrells, who scored 16 points along with six assists and three steals, and Maki Mitchell who scored 14 points. Sorrells hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Peters, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rabun County earned a 62-54 victory over Tallulah Falls on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rabun County.
Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Rabun County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season.
Commerce came out on top in a nail-biter against Rabun County in their previous meeting on January 10th, sneaking past 58-55. Does Commerce have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rabun County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
