Leadership Academy hasn't had much luck against Clover Garden School recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Leadership Academy will host Clover Garden School at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Leadership Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
Leadership Academy gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Atkins as Leadership Academy made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Falcons have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alyssa Hopkins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Madelyn Joyce, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Leadership Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in nine consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Clover Garden School unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Southeast Alamance by a score of 8-7.
Mackenzie Shepherd made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Welch, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
The win got Leadership Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Clover Garden School, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Leadership Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .475. However, it's not like Clover Garden School struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Leadership Academy might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Clover Garden School in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Leadership Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
