Meanwhile, Cole pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. At bat, Maurer scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Cole scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, Cole posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Fox Darby was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sean Poortinga, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Bret Harte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Summerville lost 7-1 to Linden on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly six runs.
Summerville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Radonich, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Owen Herrera also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Summerville's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-10-1. As for Bret Harte, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Bret Harte suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Summerville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Bret Harte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
