Basketball Recap: Hailey Lee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Strathmore over Arvin

Strathmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 44-36 to the Arvin Bears. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in December of 2021.

Strathmore lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hailey Lee, who posted seven points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Lee, who scored eight points and three steals.

Arvin found their leader in sophomore Melina Gracia, who had 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gracia has scored at least a third of the Bears' points.

Strathmore's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Arvin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Strathmore will square off against Orosi at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arvin, they will take on Rosamond at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Roadrunners have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
