The Marionville Comets put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Billings 82-20 at home. Considering Marionville has won seven contests by more than 36 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Marionville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucy Newberry , who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The match was Newberry 's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anniliyah Ghan, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Marionville's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Billings, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Marionville will be home for the holidays to greet Greenfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Greenfield is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Billings will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McAuley Catholic on December 26th. McAuley Catholic is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
