Hawthorne and Centennial are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Hawthorne Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Centennial Apaches at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Hawthorne suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Beverly Hills on the road and fell 83-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Hawthorne has suffered against Beverly Hills since January 31, 2020.
The losing side was boosted by Jakobi Smith, who scored 19 points. Alfredo Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Centennial's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-35 loss at the hands of Inglewood. Centennial has not had much luck with Inglewood recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Hawthorne has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
Hawthorne was taken down by Centennial 80-50 in their previous matchup on January 10th. Can Hawthorne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
