The McGuffey Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 26 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Yough on Thursday as McGuffey made off with a 57-31 win. Given McGuffey's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Yough is ranked 436th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alexis Ewig, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sarah Brownlee was another key contributor, scoring five points.
The win makes it two in a row for McGuffey and bumps their season record up to 11-2. As for Yough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
McGuffey will head out on the road to face off against Charleroi at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Yough, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Park at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
