The LeRoy Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. LeRoy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
LeRoy not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 11-0). Everything went their way against Argenta-Oreana as they made off with an 8-1 win. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kobe Brent was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Smith, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.
LeRoy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Argenta-Oreana only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Deer Creek-Mackinaw posted their closest victory since April 10th on Monday. They skirted past Heyworth 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chiefs.
Chuck Hathaway made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Deer Creek-Mackinaw: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Eggenberger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
LeRoy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
LeRoy couldn't quite get it done against Deer Creek-Mackinaw in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
