The Crestwood Red Devils will challenge the Laurel Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crestwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Crestwood came up short against Chagrin Falls and fell 6-3.
Hailey Pesarchick made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Johnson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Laurel gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Aquinas 17-6. Considering the Gators have won four games by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooke Barragate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Barragate was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kemy Cistone, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Vigh, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Laurel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Crestwood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Crestwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Laurel struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Crestwood was able to grind out a solid win over Laurel in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 10-5. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
