After flying high against the Whitwell Tigers last Saturday, the Grundy County Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Grundy County suffered a tough 70-44 loss at the hands of the Lions on Monday. While losing is never fun, Grundy County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Lions are ranked 42nd).
Despite the loss, Grundy County saw an underclassman step up: Kallie Parson dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Parson hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasadee Crabtree, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Grundy County's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Cannon County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Grundy County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Van Buren County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for Cannon County, they will head out on the road to take on the Vikings/Viqueens at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday.
