Mount Calvary Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Chester Charter Scholars Academy Sabers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mount Calvary Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
After soaring to a 30-point victory in their last game, Mount Calvary Christian came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lancaster County Christian by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, Mount Calvary Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Avery Kopcha, who scored 13 points along with six assists and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Kopcha has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Masters, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Chester Charter Scholars Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Wednesday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Philadelphia Montgomery Christian Academy.
Mount Calvary Christian's record now sits at 9-9. Chester Charter Scholars Academy's record is now 9-8.
Mount Calvary Christian came up short against the Sabers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 59-51. Thankfully for Mount Calvary Christian, Kevin Miller (who scored 18 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
