The Jackson Academy Raiders are still undefeated this season after their matchup against the Heritage Academy Patriots on Saturday, but the Heritage Academy Patriots came as close as anyone has to beating them. Jackson Academy skirted past Heritage Academy 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mike Williams was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Jackson Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Gaitor, who scored 10 points.
Jackson Academy pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Heritage Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Jackson Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Brookhaven Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brookhaven Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Jackson Academy is ranked seventh). As for Heritage Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Pillow Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
