Southern Christian has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the East Central HomeSchool Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 321st, while East Central HomeSchool is ranked 84th).
Last Monday, Southern Christian came up short against Springwood and fell 49-36.
Despite the defeat, Southern Christian had strong showings from Caylin Oswald, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Chloe Oswald, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Oswald is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Southern Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, East Central HomeSchool had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They strolled past Ezekiel Academy with points to spare, taking the game 44-25.
Emma Nelson and Hannah Bankston were among the main playmakers for East Central HomeSchool as the former scored 14 points along with six steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Nelson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Rea, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Southern Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for East Central HomeSchool, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Southern Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like East Central HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.5 rebounds per game.
