The Knightdale Knights's game last Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 44-29 win over East Wake. The team ran away with 33 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Knightdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja?Kiyah Moore out in front who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The contest was Moore's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Bryant, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
East Wake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erica Rawlings, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Rawlings has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alani Butler, who scored eight points.
Knightdale's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for East Wake, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knightdale will be home for the holidays to greet J.F. Webb at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. East Wake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southern Wayne at 6:15 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Southern Wayne comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
