Spring Woods is 0-10 against Cypress Ridge since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spring Woods Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Cypress Ridge Rams at 6:30 p.m. Spring Woods will be strutting in after a victory while Cypress Ridge will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Spring Woods was able to grind out a solid win over South Houston, taking the game 50-38. The win was just what Spring Woods needed coming off of a 88-59 loss in their prior contest.
Spring Woods can attribute much of their success to Melody Nowling, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Nowling set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Makyla Oliver was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-28, which was the final score in Cypress Ridge's tilt against Manvel on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cypress Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 565th, while Manvel is ranked 127th).
The win got Spring Woods back to even at 7-7. As for Cypress Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Spring Woods was dealt a bruising 69-12 defeat at the hands of Cypress Ridge when the teams last played back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Spring Woods was down 35-9.
