The Durham Trojans waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Pierce with a 48-44 win. That's another feather in the cap for Durham, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Durham found their leader in underclassman Payton Santos, who scored 30 points. Santos continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Durham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Pierce, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Durham will be playing at home against Paradise at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pierce, they will head out on the road to square off against East Nicolaus at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully East Nicolaus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
