Last Tuesday, Mount Calvary Christian strolled past New Covenant Christian with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. The win was just what Mount Calvary Christian needed coming off of a 81-58 defeat in their prior contest.
Avery Kopcha was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Trey Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Newport on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Harrisburg Christian.
Harrisburg Christian relied on the efforts of Cooper Gesswein, who scored 14 points along with two blocks, and Eli Stargel, who scored eight points along with four steals. Stargel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Sunday, who scored six points along with two steals.
Mount Calvary Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Harrisburg Christian, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mount Calvary Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Harrisburg Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
