The Parkdale Panthers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Laurel Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Parkdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
Parkdale suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 91-48 defeat at the hands of Wise. While losing is never fun, Parkdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Wise is ranked 44th).
Despite the loss, Parkdale got a solid performance out of Jacob Wilson, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Richards, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Laurel waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 victory over Suitland.
Laurel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Brown also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Jermaine Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Parkdale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Laurel, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Parkdale couldn't quite finish off Laurel in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 57-55. Can Parkdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
