After a string of eight wins, the Briggsdale Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Flatirons Academy by a score of 41-38. Briggsdale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Flatirons Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Briggsdale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Krise, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Claire Brown who scored 11 points along with three steals. Krise is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Flatirons Academy was led to victory by Emily Dehaan and Emma Cox. Dehaan scored nine points, while Cox dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Cox is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season.
Briggsdale's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Flatirons Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Briggsdale and Kiowa will face off at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kiowa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Briggsdale is ranked 49th). As for Flatirons Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Mile High Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flatirons Academy's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Mile High Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
