After two games on the road, Saugerties is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Wallkill Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Saugerties has not done well against Roosevelt recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Saugerties breezed by Roosevelt on the road to the tune of 66-39. The victory was just what Saugerties needed coming off of a 69-45 loss in their prior matchup.
Saugerties got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mccoy Rothe out in front who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Rothe scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Parisio, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wallkill was beaten by Our Lady of Lourdes 99-60 on Tuesday.
Saugerties now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Wallkill, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Saugerties couldn't quite finish off Wallkill when the teams last played back in February and fell 51-49. Can Saugerties avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
