Somonauk is on a three-game streak of home losses, Hiawatha a 14-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Somonauk Bobcats will take on the Hiawatha Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Tuesday, Somonauk came up short against Earlville and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, Somonauk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while Earlville is ranked 118th).
Hiawatha suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 two weeks ago. They were outmatched by Yorkville Christian on the road and fell 84-48.
Somonauk's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Hiawatha, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
Somonauk was able to grind out a solid victory over Hiawatha in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 67-55. Does Somonauk have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hiawatha turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
