Basketball Recap: Conroe Takes a Loss

Conroe easily dispatched Cleveland last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Conroe Tigers fell just short of the Grand Oaks Grizzlies by a score of 45-43 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since December 12, 2023.

Despite the loss, Conroe still got an impressive performance from Riley Gross, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most points Gross has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Smith, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Conroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Bree Riley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grand Oaks, putting up 26 points and three steals. Riley's evening made it 40 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Avery Campbell was another key player, posting four points and six steals.

Conroe's record now sits at 9-8. As for Grand Oaks, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Conroe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 44-32 win against Willis on the 20th. As for Grand Oaks, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-28 victory against Oak Ridge on the 20th.
