Nelson will square off against the Sherwood Bowmen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Monday, Nelson got the win against Reynolds by a conclusive 17-4. The victory continues a trend for Nelson in their matchups with Reynolds: they've now won eight in a row.
Nelson got a massive performance out of Addison Osterholm, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Osterholm has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alyvia Pietsch, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Sherwood faced Forest Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bowmen put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 8-1 win.
The team relied heavily on Maisy Schindler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Daisha Cornwell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Sherwood's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Nelson, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Nelson's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. Nelson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Sherwood, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Nelson continue to outrun the ball?
Nelson came up short against Sherwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, falling 8-4. Can Nelson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
