Gaston Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Happy Arune, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Jessica Williams who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Arune hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was Rowan Haston, who scored seven points.
Metrolina Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Alaina Griffin, who dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Griffin has scored at least a third of Metrolina Christian Academy's points. Jenna Carlson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
Gaston Christian dropped their record down to 3-12 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.6 points per game. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Gaston Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Metrolina Christian Academy will be playing at home against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Hickory Grove Christian is ranked 319th, while the Warriors are ranked 325th).
