Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bradley-Bourbonnais). Everything went their way against the Peotone Blue Devils on Wednesday as they made off with a 22-7 win. The Boilermakers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th.
Mason Shaul made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Shaul was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cayden Arbour was a standout: he scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jace Boudreau, who scored two runs while going 3-for-6.
Bradley-Bourbonnais always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .580. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peotone only posted an OBP of .371.
Bradley-Bourbonnais pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Peotone, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Bradley-Bourbonnais and Peotone could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Boilermakers will face off against Lincoln-Way East at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (88 vs. 7). Meanwhile, Peotone (ranked 482nd) will meet Streator (ranked 239th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
