While the Lakeview Bulldogs couldn't quite beat the Hubbard Eagles on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 21-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Lakeview fell just short of Hubbard by a score of 54-51. Lakeview has not had much luck with Hubbard recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lakeview still got an impressive performance from Kyle Senkowitz, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Senkowitz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Newton, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lakeview struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hubbard pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Hubbard got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braydon Songer out in front who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Songer is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Gavin Rybicki was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Lakeview has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Hubbard, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeview will take on Columbiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbiana is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, meaning Lakeview will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Hubbard, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Academy for Urban Scholars at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Hubbard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
