Basketball Recap: The Webb Schools Falls Despite Big Games from Josef Sharifi and Nick Wang

The Webb Schools lost against El Rancho back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Webb Schools Gauls came up short against the El Rancho Dons , falling 59-35. The game marked the Gauls' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, The Webb Schools had strong showings from Nick Wang, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 18 points, and Josef Sharifi, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points. The dominant performance gave Wang a new career-high in points.

El Rancho's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adam Rivas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Rivas is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Morones, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for The Webb Schools and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for El Rancho, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Webb Schools will head out to challenge Duarte at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Webb Schools is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. As for El Rancho, they will venture away from home to square off against Temple City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
