There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Conway's senior Jovoni Johnson, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Bentonville West got a 41 - 14 win over Rogers last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Tyrese Smallwood. Smallwood earned three touchdowns and 192 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Smallwood one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Movin on Up
The Warren offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It breezed past Dumas with a final score of 38 - 8. Warren did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. Its success was rewarded with a eight-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between North Little Rock (1st in the power rankings) and Southside (13th). North Little Rock took its game against Southside by a confident 49 - 27 score. Senior Tyler Day was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 130 yards and also punched in three touchdowns).
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Bryant (2nd in the power rankings) and Southside (13th). Bryant is backed by a win while Southside is motivated by a recent defeat. We'll see if Bryant can add another positive mark to its record or if Southside can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Bryant's step.
