Canyon is 10-0 against Yorba Linda since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Canyon Comanches will be playing at home against the Yorba Linda Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Canyon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Canyon beat Villa Park 54-50. Given Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Villa Park is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Goodall, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Goodall has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Staf Yilmazturk was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, the matchup between Yorba Linda and Foothill on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. Yorba Linda ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-47 walloping at the hands of Foothill. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Yorba Linda has suffered yet this season.
Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Yorba Linda, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Everything came up roses for Canyon against Yorba Linda when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 67-35 victory. Does Canyon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Yorba Linda turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
