Basketball Recap: Portola Skates Past Tulelake with Ease

Portola won against Modoc on Thursday with 74 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Portola Tigers blew past the Tulelake Honkers 74-36. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Portola to victory were Connor Sheridan and Magnus Berg. Sheridan dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 boards, while Berg went 12 of 21 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds. Berg's afternoon made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Enrique Vargas, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Portola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Portola has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Tulelake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Portola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 81-70 win against Fall River on the 21st. As for Tulelake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-42 loss against Modoc on the 21st.
