The Marionville Comets had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 win over Pierce City. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Marionville also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Marionville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dally Pomeroy, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Pomeroy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Newberry, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Marionville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Pierce City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.
Marionville will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Diamond knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Comets likes a good challenge. As for Pierce City, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stockton is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
