The Bonneville Lakers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Mountain Crest Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Bonneville struggled with offensive rebounds two weeks ago (Layton had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bonneville suffered a tough 59-36 loss at the hands of Layton.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Sidnee Geerdes, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Charity Mcdonald, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Mountain Crest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 50-45 to Layton Christian Academy.
Bonneville's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Mountain Crest, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7.
Bonneville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mountain Crest in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mountain Crest's Lexie Coggins, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Bonneville to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
