Even though the Rincon/University Rangers have not done well against the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Rincon/University walked away with a 39-31 victory over Tucson High Magnet School. For Rincon/University, this counts as revenge for the 60-46 loss Tucson High Magnet School walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Rincon/University found their leader in underclassman Leila O'Dowd, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which O'Dowd has scored at least a third of Rincon/University's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Wexler, who scored nine points.
Rincon/University has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Rincon/University will head out on the road to challenge Marana at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marana and Rincon/University are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Tucson High Magnet School won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Catalina Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Catalina Foothills is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
