Basketball Recap: Crawford County Beats Pike County for Their Third Straight Victory

Crawford County waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Pike County Pirates by a score of 57-44. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-43 two weeks ago.

Crawford County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Ivey led the charge by putting up eight points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Ivey a new career-high. Jackson Walton was another key player, posting 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Crawford County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Pike County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Head, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and four steals. Head has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yadi Rosado, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Crawford County pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Pike County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Crawford County and Academy for Classical Education will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on December 27th. As for Pike County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Marion County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pike County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.
