The Maricopa Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Coastal Christian, falling 61-33. Maricopa lost against the Conquerors in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 80-31 score last time.
Maricopa lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathaniel Stroud, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Stroud has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Diego Rivera was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Maricopa has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Coastal Christian, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Maricopa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Coastal Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Titans at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. Nipomo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Conquerors like a good challenge.
