The West Laurens Raiders can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 32-25 win over Westside. The win was just what West Laurens needed coming off of a 68-43 loss in their prior game.
West Laurens can attribute much of their success to Tariah Tobler, who scored five points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Brookyln Jackson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Destiny Spencer. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Spencer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Frazier, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Westside struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Laurens racked up ten assists.
West Laurens' victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12. As for Westside, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Laurens will take on Perry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to challenge Baldwin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westside in Georgia (Baldwin is ranked 17th, while Westside is ranked 335th).
