The New Hanover Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to South Brunswick for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-30 win at home. Fans of New Hanover have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
New Hanover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CJ Kornegay, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Kornegay's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeus Batts, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Despite the defeat, South Brunswick had strong showings from Chase Robinson, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds, and Ziyon Smith, who scored six points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Robinson pulled down eight or more rebounds.
New Hanover pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for South Brunswick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
New Hanover won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Millbrook at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Averaging 64.8 so far this season, Millbrook's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so New Hanover better be ready for a challenge. As for South Brunswick, they will head out on the road to face off against Tournament Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
