The Lincoln County Panthers will challenge the Riverside Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Lincoln County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Oakcrest 10-0.
Lincoln County let Graysen Ellis and Walker Kessel run wild. Ellis went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Kessel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Kessel has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Byrd, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside). They came out on top against Woodrow Wilson by a score of 13-8 on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 23, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Levi Osborne made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Riverside is 3-1 when Osborne allows one or fewer hits, but 1-6 otherwise. Osborne was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Sparkman, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Riverside's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Caden Lipscomb was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodrow Wilson only managed six.
Lincoln County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Lincoln County skirted past Riverside 7-6 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
