4A Region I District 1 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Chapin extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region I District 1 this week by beating El Paso, 35-20. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Huskies.
Andress moved up to 572 from 629 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles were able to make move up by beating Austin 41-15.
Bowie's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mathew Andujo threw for 64 yards and Oscar Carrasco had 38 yards receiving. On the ground German Enriquez chipped in 117 yards. Dominic Diaz helped Bowie's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
Chapin's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Huskies feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Seth Gonzalez has thrown for 1697 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Jaylen Addison has 49 catches for 759 yards. Geremiah Satele leads the league in rushing with 1019 yards.
The Panthers' Myles Douglas needs only 42 yards against Jefferson next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 126 carries Douglas has accumulated 958 yard this year.
A big matchup in 4A Region I District 1 this week will be when the Bears take on Burges. At the moment, Bowie is in third, while the Mustangs are in second.
Andress made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,837 from 6,480. The improvement was the result of 41-15 victory over Austin last week.
